ACTION SEE training Social Media, Digital Advocacy, Digital Storytelling and Data Visualisation

CA “Why not?” implemented an intensive, four day long training for ACTION SEE grantees and representatives from several non-governmental organizations from BiH. The training took place in the premises of MGallery by Sofitel hotel from March 8th to March 11th 2018.

Main focus was on learning and applying best international practices in social media, digital advocacy and storytelling, improvement and development of open data standards, as well as building skills, tools and services to enable better, more useful and more responsible work.

On the first day of training we talked about social media for nonprofits and how to focus on creation of Social Media Strategy that would serve as a framework for a fully developed document.  We discussed how to manage online presence and what are best tools to that in the sphere of our work.

The second day we were focused on visualizing information for advocacy which would also serve as an extension to the story of data visualization and creation of infographics. Participants were working in teams and had tasks to devise digital advocacy plans and a way to present them.

Public speaking and presentation techniques “Art of Storytelling” was the theme of the third day. This module guided attendants through the process of preparation, planning and execution of public presentations with or without use of visual aids.

On the fourth and last day of training we talked about data visualization and infographics. Participants were introduced to ethics of data visualization with practical examples as well as practical skills of infographics creation, data visualization and videographics visualization with basic tools.
