Two day training on Advocacy and Social Media Management

NGO KOHA from Klina, Kosovo, beneficiary from the first round of the ActionSEE project for local grants were part of an intensive two-day training, which was designed to fulfill the specific needs of the organization. During their five month implementation of their project, the organization was engaged to require more transparency and accountability from the municipal level of governance; inform citizens of laws and regulations that enhance freedom of information and the decision making process; strengthen the participation of citizens in the domain of public policies through transparency and accountability.

Because of the nature of their everyday work and the main aim the organization, the involvement of large numbers of people is crucial in the successful implementation of activities. Therefore, a better advocacy campaign and a better online presence contributes directly to active citizen participation, which increases the pressure for transparency and accountability. On the first day, the participants were trained by Edona Ahmetaj on Advocacy and Campaign, whereas she shared with the organization practical skills and the basis needed to create successful advocacy campaigns. The participants went into detail in identifying the basic skills they possess or need to improve, and how to put those skills to use. To ensure the success of the campaign, the participants were briefed on the importance and influence of corporation with other local organization or with larger institutions and EU organizations acting on a local context.

The second day of training was focused on Social Media Management where Egzon Bunjaku instructed the participants on creative and practical ways to increase their reach and best influence their community. The participants gained practical knowledge on the fruitful techniques of using Social Media for professional purposes and getting their message across to their target audience and all the citizens influenced by their scope of work. The two-day training was wrapped up with the recommendation and the benefits which they received during the training. All participants agreed that capacity building training for local civil society organizations are more than necessary for their everyday work.
