Dictionary of coruption workshop held

The education of 20 high school students began on April 19. A group of high school students began to get acquainted with the “dictionary of corruption”, basic terms, phenomena, classifications. The phenomena of the coruption were mapped in everyday life, through observation from the personal experience, analysis of tabloid and “some other” media. Through the general observations on the corruption, corruptive behavior and corruption offenses, a concept of a short survey was conducted on a sample of 63 respondents (7 polls were invalid, as no answers were provided for most questions).

Brief survey of the perception of corrupt behaviors and acts, gives the following results: 88.8% of young people think that corruption is a major problem for our society (97.2% of girls have this attitude).

Most of the young people recognize the elements of corruption in situations: “Giving money or doing a service to” speed up “the thing” (89%) and “Give money to a policeman to not write you a report” (76.1%). Corruptive behavior in the situation of “Purchasing expensive birthday presents to teacher / teacher / class head and expectation of better grades afterwards”, recognizes 69.4% of girls compared to 22.2% of young men. In relation to all situations, girls show a higher degree of sensitivity (recognition) of corruptive acts.

Young people consider that corruption is the most frequent in the following occupations and areas: police (76.2%), health care (68.2%), politics (55.6%), education (46%), judiciary (31.7%),

Young people believe in justice and do not want to participate in corruption (69.8%), but 66.7% of young people would still be involved in corruption in the case of “life or death”.

61.9% of young people think that poor legislation is the main reason for the spread of corruption in Serbia, 57.7% see the cause of corruption in a moral crisis, and 55.5% is the cause of low wages in the public sector. The results of the survey were used in preparing the debate.
