Strategy for Transparency of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia (2019-2021)

Following a series of consultative meetings of the Working Group on Creating the Transparency Strategy of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, on 19 November 2019, at the 166th session of the Government, the Transparency Strategy of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia for the period between 2019 and 2021 was adopted. An Action Plan has also been adopted to promote an environment of transparency and confidence in the work of institutions in the wake of the country’s EU and NATO integration.

Metamorphosis Foundation for Internet and Society was one of the key creators of the Strategy together with the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia and the Minister without Portfolio in charge of Communications, Transparency and Accountability in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Robert Popovski, within the project ACTION SEE – ACCOUNTABILITY, TECHNOLOGY AND INSTITUTIONAL OPENNESS IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE.

The strategy emerged as a need from the results of the Regional Openness Index for North Macedonia, a product of the ACTION SEE project implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation. The index showed that there are significant differences between institutions in their openness and transparency regarding the application of good practices which often depend on the goodwill and dedication of those who run a given institution.

The Strategy for Transparency of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia (2019-2021) is now available online for the wider public in three languages (English, Albanian and Macedonian).
